Make A Mixed Tape

Make A Mixed Tape is a web application for creating and sharing personalized digital mixtapes using publicly available YouTube videos.

A tape can contain a title, recipient, sender, message, optional artwork, YouTube video links, and a personal note for each track. Once saved, the tape can be shared using a read-only public link.

Inspired by real mixtapes

The application is inspired by the cassette tapes people once made for friends and family. The goal is not simply to create another playlist. It is to create a personal gift with a message, carefully selected tracks, and memories connected to each song.

No account required

You do not need to create an account, username, or password. When a tape is created, the application generates:

• A public link that allows others to play the tape.
• A private management link that allows the creator to edit or delete it.

The creator’s browser can remember private management links using local browser storage. If the private link and browser data are both lost, the tape may no longer be editable.

How YouTube is used

Videos are played directly through the official YouTube embedded player. Make A Mixed Tape does not download, convert, copy, host, or restream YouTube video files.

YouTube controls video availability, playback, branding, advertisements, and any restrictions placed on a video by its owner or by YouTube.

User-created content

Users are responsible for the tape titles, messages, artwork, track notes, and video links they add.

Make A Mixed Tape does not approve every tape before it is created. It works somewhat like a word processor: the application provides creative tools, but it does not know the identity of every person using those tools or manually review every item they create.

Make A Mixed Tape is an independent application. It is not sponsored by, affiliated with, or endorsed by YouTube or Google.
